Good Points

Price, ergonomics

Bad Points

Needs considerable tuning to be a reliable and accurate performer, definitely NOT for the novice.

General Comments

I've found that silicone grease works well to lubricate the Marksman Model 2004 piston and o-ring, perhaps synthetic brake caliper slide lube would work well, too. While you've got it apart, make sure to lube all the pivot points and pins with high quailty gun oil or moly lube. I used removeable loctite to cure the rear sight problem. Pay attention to the headspace between the barrel breech and compression chamber, I noticed the little o-ring was being dislodged from its groove indicating too much gap and leakage of the air charge. If the pistol misfires it's usually an indication the piston needs to be removed and the cylinder cleaned out of accumulated excess lube. Light and careful polishing of the cylinder chamfer to knock down any small burrs is a good idea, same for the piston. to make assembly easier, put the lubed piston in the freezer for a few minutes, this will contract its diameter enough to make it drop right into the cylinder. I found that the sliding action of the piston in the cylinder was smoother if I turned the piston 180 degrees in the bore from how it was assembled from the factory. With tuning this pistol can perform as well or better than its more expensive cousin, but I can't recommend it to the novice because it's prone to failure as it comes out of the box.

pay close attention to the air bleed hole at the bottom of the compression cylinder, any burrs here will cut and damage the piston seal the first time the pistol is cocked. these pistols require complete disassembly and burnishing of all moving parts to make them smooth and reliable performers, i rescued mine from the trash and brought it back to life after performing tech tips posted by n5lyc.
