General Comments

Buying a scope for an airgun should not set you back as much as the gun. Fortunately, Daisy Powerline offers a good quality, effective scope that fits this demand. You could zero this baby to a favorite shooting distance of 35 yards and live happily with it for a long time.

Yes, you may need to aim lower at closer targets, and higher at further ones, and lower again as the projectile loses velocity over very long distances. Do you need to spend hundreds of dollars for little markings, an adjustable objective and other more intricate frills? For the average airgunner the answer is no! You'll do just fine after using this scope for a while, and can always count on that zero point just 35 yards out.

I read your review and liked it a lot. I bought a scope, which looks identical to yours (branded Norconia 3-9x32) and had the same exact feelings. After one week I have upgraded to (same brand) 3-9x40 (definitely brighter) and shot some 200 (.177) pellets so far with my Weihrauch HW77K... I would like to ask you a couple of questions about zeroing this scope if it is OK with you.
    Thanks in advance.

Sure. What would you like to know?

Regarding your review about the Daisy Powerline 3-9x32 airgun scope. I have zeroed my scope (Norconia 3-9x40) at 20 yards with the zoom magnification set on “4” and appreciated the remarkable accuracy of my Weihrauch HW77K.

The scope is mounted in the proper way, and behind the mounts I have fastened a recoil stop, which lodges very firmly across the dovetail, fits the appropriate notch and provides additional support, preventing even the smallest displacement of the scope.

With (the same size) killzone, even shooting from the same (indoor) distance using the exact same pellets, if I rotate the scope zoom onto a different position I do not hit the target.

Am I overlooking the most basic concepts of the optical physical science or is my scope simply defective?

Thanks in advance for your expert advice and for eventual tips/suggestions.

The optical plane does change, and that is the purpose of having an adjustable objective.. Most all scopes require that you set the zoom to the highest level of magnification, then set the objective, then zoom back out if you want.

The point behind my comments regarding the Daisy Powerline 3-9x32 airgun scope, and I probably did not emphasize this, is that I set the Powerline to 9X and set my zero at 30 yards. Since I am mostly doing pest patrol at about 25 to 35 yards, I see no shift because I do not change magnification.

So now seeing that you shoot a TX in FT type competition, I would suggest a scope with AO (adjustable objective). Your physics class served you well. But for the average pest patrol pellet gun shooter, the Powerline set to highest mag that you intend to use, and then zeroed, is a great scope. This is about 75% of those who buy it from Walmart.

shoot2kill, First of all thanks for the time you took for replying to me, and for the suggestion about the scope with Adjustable Objective lens for parallax correction. I believe that this would solve my equation!

For the fun and for the interest of other readers too I would like to post (see bottom) a couple of useful links, which I found rather pertinent to the subject. Specifically the first link, which describes a fairly easy procedure to correct parallax of inexpensive scopes which do not feature that "extra dial", for which, as you very wisely wrote in your first review, one must take the rap for!

I would recommend the other 2 links to all those airgun shooters who -like myself- have still much to learn.

By the way, after I read your review on the Diana P5 Magnum, despite I am not really into pistols, I am considering buying one! Any other good tips?

    Over and out, SniperX

Yes. Another very important tip; Enjoy life!

You can send me a comment for more details about the P5 or other airguns. That is my passion.

    Nice links... Thanks!
