You always know who's going from amateur to professional.
The annual photo shoot magazine is pretty radical if you don't like reading.
It is really thick, with lots of good interviews with every skater you can think of.
A lot of ads (mostly Nike - yuk).
Not a lot of the local skate scene, which you can get from Thrasher.
I like the Transworld Skateboarding magazine just because it's cheap ($24 for a 12 month subscription); plus, when you subscribe they give you free stuff. They have a lot of weird ads for random things, although it's not a bad thing as you get to know all the crazy stuff you can get for your skateboard (for example: tail devils, padded trucks for in your house, and different skateboard designs).
On the bad side, they have lots of Adidas and Nike ads. All this is doing is encouraging posers to go out and buy skateboards and make the real skaters look like fags.
