Retro design
Performance
The one positive thing I can say about the Kenwood ES547 Cafe Retro Espresso Machine is that it looks really attractive sitting on a kitchen work surface.
I had high hopes for this espresso maker (I had previously owned a £50 machine for 2 years, but wanted a retro looking machine for my new kitchen). However, although it may look nice, that's really the only positive thing I can say for it. Due to the fact that it only has one thermostat and you have to wait for the machine to either heat up or cool down between frothing milk or making coffee. It drips a lot after coffee has been made, and the coffee doesn't taste that good either. In fact I was so disappointed with this machine I sold it for £10 at a car boot sale 3 months after paying £150 for it. I then went back to using my original £50 espresso machine that I've had for 2 years!
In summary, it looks really good, but makes really bad coffee!
