General Comments

I received my new look Mercedes Benz C Class 180 Avantgarde SE kitted with Sports Pack earlier this year. After 9 months and 10K miles, a few points to note for potential MB buyers.

Issues that I have experienced include:
1. Broken pasenger seat
2. Air conditioning smelling of wee
3. Steering to the left
4. Maintenance costs greater than anticipated
5. After Care Service - see below.

In order to get 1-3 rectified, I had to phone MB no less than three times.

I have experienced the car pulling to the left and the wheels on the left wearing out after 20,000 kms. Had the wheels aligned twice by the dealer but the problem was not fixed. Finally I took it to a wheel alignment steering specialist and he tells me it is a very common problem for right-hand drive models. I rang Mercedes and they conform that it is a common complain but they cannot help me and ask me to go and see a steering specialist !!! The steering people put in a kit (some third party company actually manufactures a kit to fix this problem - it is so common !!!) and fixed the problem at a cost of $400 plus 2 new tyres. Calls to Mercedes Benz for reimbursement as part of the warranty fell on deaf ears. The answer was the work was not done by Mercedes therefore it is not covered under warranty. The fact that Mercedes admitted they cannot fix it and to go somewhere else was irrelevant.
