Good Points

High quality pictures, good size on-board memory at 32MB (compared to other companies) meaning you don't lose that capacity when you buy a new card - you will need one! Very easy to use, well built, looks attractive, and has a good battery life.

Bad Points

Doesn't save settings you use, meaning each time you switch the camera on you have to change them back. Using black and white images doesn't reduce the file size. Regardless of whether you want it or not the preview display comes on after every picture taken, making it hard to conserve battery life.

General Comments

The HP PhotoSmart R507 digital camera was a total steal for me. I bought it from Dabs for £60 delivered, about 8 months ago, and I have been happy with it ever since. The images are crisp and vibrant. The camera is small, light and portable, and it looks nice too.

The battery life isn't too bad. I managed to take approximately 400 pictures using the screen and no flash (although these were all taken in succession in the public records office). If you want a replacement battery for this camera, get a FUJI NP-60 battery; it's an identical battery, but it means you won't have to pay HP prices! A very nice feature is that the screen changes orientation depending on whether you shoot in portrait or landscape.

It is a fantastic camera spoiled by a few niggly problems, such as the screen always coming on regardless of whether you want it to or not, and also the colour settings do not save themselves when you switch the camera off.

In conclusion, this is a top camera at a cheap as chips price!
