Many improvements
Higher difficulty
Rome: Total War - Barbarian Invasion is a top class addition to the PC series. It's a great expansion pack to get more mileage out of what is a superb strategy game.
The expansion pack is set two hundred years after the end of the original game, and you can either descend on Rome to pillage and plunder as The Barbarians, or defend the walls of Rome as a leader of the Empire.
This game isn't just a clone of the original, as it offers changes in the actual gameplay, which makes this an all round better game. The Barbarians and other factions are added to the game, and the landscape has changed to reflect over 200 years of development. Other additions include things like character loyalty, which enhance the complexity of Rome.
This game is strictly not for novices though. It is a very tough simulation, and if you struggled with the original then you've got no chance with this expansion pack.
Not only is this game an improvement, but it also provides a fresh new challenge. I would urge strategists everywhere to give it a try.
