I bought the Hoover TV630 tumble dryer in October 2001. There has been a grating noise from the bearing over the past year, followed by complete failure. The so-called 5 year guarantee is not much use - although the replacement part (complete drum assembly) was free, this was only if fitted by Hoover engineer at a call out cost of £86, otherwise the part costs £90 + VAT (total £105.75). Hoover refused my request to send me a new drum that I could fit myself.

    I agree fully with you. My Hoover TV360 tumble dryer has grated and squeaked since I got it. I hate it!
