General Comments
The Sony Ericsson K700i mobile phone has many good points, but also a few bad points...
*Good points:*
Themes (downloadable)
Pretty loud tones (make sure the MP3 you download is of good quality and loud already)
Pretty large phone book memory
A lot of useful phone profiles
Alarm is very GOOD (wakes me up every morning). You can set MP3 files as alarm tones too
Calendar
To do list
Notes (can be sent as text messages to another Sony Ericsson phone through bluetooth if you don't have anything to do)
Sms counter
Radio (FM)
Phone shortcuts (can be changed according to your preference)
Call timers
Small and light
Easy to text (keys stick out enough)
Pretty good camera (considering it's a VGA camera)
Has a flash feature (but it doesn't really help in taking good night pictures, could be a good torch though)
When the phone is in idle mode, an envelope comes out to indicate messages, and a red arrow appears if a call was missed
Power save feature (doesn't really help in battery saving though)
Templates and drafts (very useful)
File manager gives you a summary on your remaining memory left, and the certain areas of the phone that take up memory (with how much memory it has already taken up)
Pretty good JAVA games
Can erase the default pictures, and sounds etc., so you have more memory (certain files are protected though, so they can't be renamed, moved to different folders or deleted, but there aren't many of them)
Quite durable (I've dropped it a few times already and it's still intact)
Bluetooth is brilliant!
Infrared is pretty good as well (but won't be needed much unless the phone your sending the file to doesn't have bluetooth)
Scratches don't leave white marks on the phone (not like silver Samsung phones)
Red light on top of the phone blinks to indicate low battery (expect that thing to be blinking a lot)
You can segregate your pictures into separate files
Good signal
*Bad points:*
Can't use an MP3 for message alert tones
Sometimes the person's name doesn't come up when you receive a text from them, and you have to save their number under their name again (this happens more than once)
The back cover scratches really easily
Does not have changeable covers
It is TOO bright in a really dark room (for example, if you're asleep and you wake up in the middle of the night because you had to text someone or call someone... the light on the K700i IS LITERALLY BLINDING, and you would need about 5 minutes to get your eyes to adjust to the brightness after just being asleep)
Sometimes, when you call someone... their number is right... but their name is someone else's (you have to edit the contact detail again)
Sometimes, you can't hear the phone when it rings... (depends on the quality of the MP3 files you've downloaded)
Vibrate doesn't really help, especially if the phone is in your bag or purse
The joystick gets ruined easily, especially when you're the type who sticks your phone into your pockets all the time
Sometimes you can't receive messages straight away (they either come minutes later or never come at all)
You are only allowed 95 - 97 SMS messages to be stored in the phone (even though you delete all your picture and video files... the message memory will remain the same)
It can only hold approximately 5 - 6 FULL MP3 songs
If you want larger pictures for your PC, don't take them at the largest setting on your phone (the pictures come out distorted and grainy), I suggest you take them at the MEDIUM setting and just enlarge them using your PC... they'll come out 10x better, but still not THAT CLEAR (unless it's in good light. Good lighting is a MUST if you want pretty good pictures)
The phone needs to be charged every day with regular use (does not last for 3 days - you'll be lucky if it lasts for 2 days)
The calculator will take some getting used to
The rubber flap at the bottom comes loose very easily
The QUICKSHARE sticker will not be there any more in 7 months
Charging youur phone is annoying and frustrating (one slight move of the wire, the message OPTIMUM CHARGING flashes on the screen. It's annoying, especially when you're trying to compose a text message. If you accidentally tug on the wire, the message comes up and you have to press OK before it goes away, and this happens every time you ACCIDENTALLY tug the OH SO SENSITIVE wire)
Pics that are taken in dark lighting are very bad!
The memory is so so (it either needs more internal memory, let's say 92MB, or it needs expandable memory)
Its rather smooth cover makes your hands sweat
After turning it off, it takes a while before you can immediately turn it on again (sometimes it takes so long, you have to take the battery out then put it in again)
Rubbish video (can hardly see anything, especially when you're moving a lot while videoing)
MP3 playback is distorted, especially when you use it for ring tones
The joystick is gone after a few months (which basically means you can't do anything because you need the joystick for practically everything)
On average, people found this review very helpful
