Good Points

The phone looks nice. The ring tones are good.

Bad Points

Camera takes pictures upside down. Quality of camera photos are not good.

General Comments

I got the the Samsung Z140 mobile phone as an upgrade having had a Sharp GX20. My first impressions of the phone was that it looked very nice and dinky.

After charging the battery I started to explore it's features. There are lots of different ring tones to choose from, and although not my cup of tea, the quality is excellent. There is a poor choice for screen savers but that isn't too much of a problem because you can download more.

The camera was a great disappointment. Firstly, if you want to take a picture it is upside down. However, you can rotate it once it has been saved, but you have go into a few menus to do this - and that's a pain. The quality of the photos are not very good at all - very grainy, unless you have taken it in extremely good lighting conditions.

There are a few games on the phone, but you can only try them out, and if you want the full product then you have to download them and pay.

This is my first G3 phone, and I was really excited about viewing Sky TV. I was a little disappointed with the quality and wouldn't bother watching Sky on it.

I don't think the battery life is very good because after a couple of hours playing with the phone it went down to 1 bar (from a full charge), and I found the phone was very warm to the touch.

I was a little concerned with the reception, because in my house it only ever reached a couple of reception bars, whereas my previous phone was always on maximum bars.

I found overall, my previous phone, the Sharp GX20, was a far superior phone. I have ended up sending the Samsung Z140 back to Vodafone and changing it for another phone.

Just to comment on the camera taking pictures upside down, well lucky for me my 15 year old son just pressed on the volume button on the side and that immediately sets your picture the proper way up. Quite embarassing actually.

LOL! I never knew that - in fact the shop didn't even know that when I asked them if there was a quick way to turn the pictures round.

I think lesson learnt is ask a teenager anything about electronic gadgets, they are the new generation anyway. If you take note on the volume button as well when adjusting for taking a photo, if you use the volume down end, you will see you can adjust your photo to the left or right of the screen as well.

To me, the Samsung Z140 from a point of sale is misleading, backed by bunch of rubbish published and distributed through publishing resources. The Z140 has a maximum battery life of 2 days IF you don't touch it. If you use your phone for general use, it will need to be charged daily but if you use the phone for business use like I do, then don't forget your charger, you'll need to charge it at lunch. If you have enough battery to take photo's, you'll be looking at the screen upside down, and of course, the photo comes out upside down too. There are very little features in this phone that aren't in competitive phones. As an engineer, I purchased the phone to make/receive calls and take site photos. I’ve missed calls and had the phone drop out due to used up battery or loss of service. So, my advice to you is to stay clear of the Z140 because honestly it will cause frustration and more importantly, the phone in my opinion is not fit for its intended use. At work, my ex-Nokia got full bars, this Z140 barely gets 1 bar.
