Bad Points

Slow to set up.


General Comments

Upon opening a Cahoot Internet Banking account, I set up an online direct debit, and I had a printout confirmation to prove it. For some reason this did not register and I was unable to deposit funds for some time, whilst Cahoot sent me a paper version (it took a couple of weeks and 2 chasers before it arrived). Never once did they apologise for their apparent system failure, nor did they attempt to explain what had gone wrong. They just ignored my claim that I had already set up the direct debit and put me through the mill again.

I also sent in an R85 for gross interest which they claimed non-receipt of, and they deducted tax. It seems that they are not allowed to refund this, and I now have to claim a tax refund. Again, no apology for this; and when I asked for compensation for the interest lost whilst being unable to deposit money via direct debit plus the inconvenience of having to claim back the tax, this was refused.

I've closed my account and transferred to ING - they have been great.
