Having asked at the delivery desk whether Ikea did home delivery to our post code and assured that they did,(free if over £1,000) my colleague and I went about looking at sofas. There was no one at the information desk so we continued to shop. On arriving down stairs we asked to order and have delivered 4 arm chairs, 1 sofa and 1 corner unit, appox. £1600.00. Only to be told that we had to find them, pay and take them to the delivery desk. I asked why when the furniture was to be delivered and was told that this was a cash & carry shop. Ok do you have all the sofas in stock? was our question. No but it was due in at 12 pm (time now 10pm) the corner unit has to come from the supplier direct, but the chairs are in stock! Ok will you check our post code please, sorry we don't deliver out side the UK, but I live in the UK. Enter another member of staff. Yes they do deliver to IOW, but we would have to go upstairs to that department and order there! No staff members there! There will be I will phone and make sure. Leave you trolleys there yes! Thank you. Up stairs 2 young men took the order only to tell us that we can not order the chairs as they are in the store and we must go down and pick them up, pay and take them to the delivery desk. But down stairs they said , oh yes but they should not have told you and they don't know ! Can I see a manager PLEASE! He tries, not one to be found. There is no hurry for the chairs etc, and every thing could come at the same time, and you do deliver to IOW.don't you? No! WHAT! Down stairs they say Yes. Ok I'll go and find out. In the mean time 2nd young man continues the order and I sign the agreement. The phone ring and it's the 1st young man. The manager will see me in 10 minutes Why I ask, to tell me that they do not deliver to IOW. Don't bother. Cancel everything . We go down stairs only to see a manager who say that yes they do deliver to IOW. Train you staff we say. Make sure they know what you do and do - not do. I know that £1600 is not a lot of money to IKEA when they must take Millions. But customer care. Help. Flexibility. Time leaving IKEA 11.30pm Since then I have been on the phone to assertain if they do or do not deliver and guess what Bristol said yes and gave me the firms phone number, who said NO. and when I rang back I was told that no delivery from Bristol but yes from Edmonton. Will I go and try again NO! IKEA Customer Care NVQ's are available.
