Good Points

Very few. It makes three sizes of loaf which is a plus.

Bad Points

Unreliable. Very large and bulky on the worktop. No crust forms on the loaf.

General Comments

I have owned the Breville BR8L Anthony Worrell Thompson Breadmaker for just over a year. I had to send it back when the heating element broke down and I got a replacement. Now one of the buttons has broken, so I cannot change some of the options, but it is too much hassle to send it back - you try finding a box and insulation that will fit this enormous thing.

I have experimented with many different recipes suggested in the recipe booklet, but always with disappointing results.

The main problem is that the bread does not always mix properly and you are left with lumps of flour on the outside. Also I have never got it to rise without it sinking as it cooks. I believe the cooking temperature is too low, or it comes up to cooking temp too slowly. The crust is pathetic.

I am an experienced breadmaker user, having had a Panasonic for about 10 years prior to this one. I never had any trouble with it until very near the end of its life. It always gave me good, crusty, well-risen loaves.

I recommend that you select a different make of breadmaker.
