I'm not generally one for the big Hollywood blockbuster action films, but The Bourne Identity was a very intelligent and well-made film.

Matt Damon is Jason Bourne. He wakes up on a fishing boat after being fished out of the ocean by sailors and he can't remember his name or anything about himself. In fact, all he knows is that he was shot twice in the back and he has a small metal tube with details of a Swiss bank account implanted in his hip. So he goes in search of his identity. Along the way he meets a German girl who agrees to help him, discovers he knows multiple languages, martial arts, how to shoot a gun, and works out he was some sort of secret agent. But why are his own people now trying to kill him?

It's pretty suspenseful, and I didn't guess what had happened, so in that sense it was a success. Plus it kept me occupied while I was ill and couldn't concentrate on anything more intellectually challenging as it were.

Thumbs up for this one. I may even go and seek out the sequel.
