Good Points

Incredible zoom capabilities. Battery life. Camcorder body style and capability. Many options for getting almost any shot. Swiveling view screen. High rise pop-up flash.

Bad Points

Very long shutter delay. Monaural sound. No optical viewfinder. Auto focus drifts occasionally. The tripod mount forces awkward access to shutter and zoom. Perhaps too complex for some users.

General Comments

I got some great long shots on a trip to Madagascar using a Pentax Optio MX4 digital camera. The effortless switch from still to video is so wonderful. The small view screen can be hard to see in bright light, but it contributes to good battery life, as does motor-less video, and not having to run the lense out every time the camera is switched on and off.

Wow! Two other people who own and use an MX4! I thought I was the only one left. Even the Pentax rep (now made redundant) did not recognise it.
Superb lens resolution - do we need all those extra pixels?
Good movies without needing a camcorder - reminds me of the Yashica Samurai (35mm) of the mid 70s.

Extra thought - stand by the roadside taking photos and all the traffic immediately slows to well under the speed limit!
