General Comments

I already own an olympus E-20 camera which is an excellent camera but is big and slow. I went out shopping for a pocket point-and-shoot camera that was fast and easy to use. I was very tempted by the KD-400 because of it's speed and solid feel. When I saw the KD-500Z I ordered it sight unseen and am very impressed with everything about it. When you open the sliding lense cover and the lense opens you hear a windows musical sound from the speaker. The camera is ready to shoot photos in about 1.3 seconds. About as fast as one can open the lense and look through the viewfinder. Photos can be taken about 2 seconds apart - 5 seconds with the flash on. As far as the speed I have shown this to several of my friends, including 4 people with expierence with digital cameras. They were all extremely impressed and one ordered a new KD-500 that same night.
The important controls such as flash, selftimer, and macro settings are very easy to access and operate using the left and right buttons on the 4 way button that is also used to operate menu selections. I will continue to add to this review later as I have to leave now.
