General Comments

I have had maybe 100 or so shots through the RWS Model 54 .22 cal gun so far, and I find it to be among the most accurate guns that I have fired. The power is a bit under what others are claiming on my gun, but close to what RWS claims. Most guns are chronied with the lightest pellets, and that is what I used. The RWS Hobby pellets. They were chronied out of my gun @ 856 fps. The velocity should go up a bit with break in, and I always Moly the essential parts after a little while. With JSB 5.52 or Beeman FTS pellets the accuracy is great. I have put 10 pellets in less than 1 inch at 35 yards, and again the gun is new and I am not really used to it yet. The trigger was awful right out of the box for me, and I adjusted the pull weight down considerably. That was a big improvement, however I do not find the trigger consistent as yet. Sometimes it feels lighter than others. I do expect things to settle in a bit more and improve, especially after I lube tune the gun.

A sling would be almost essential if you intend on a day of hunting or plinking through the fields. Cocking the gun is a breeze, but loading it is somewhat awkward compared to break barrels, and I would imagine the .177 would be even worse with the smaller pellets. I think the stock could easily be made thinner and lighter, and remain more than sturdy enough for all but knocking down doors. I as many others would like to see the trigger and guard in steel, but overall I really enjoy shooting the gun. Give one a try I think you will like it.
