Great family entertainment
Lovely setting and location
Great base to explore Northumberland from
Too much to do and so little time
Myself and my family went for a 7 night stay at Haggerston Castle in Northumberland during the summer holidays, and in short it was FANTASTIC.
The entertainment there offers something for everyone. We spent most of our time in Carnabys (the family bar), and the kids love it in here, as this is where the Bradley and Rory Shows take place. We managed to drag them away for one night, which we spent in the Showbar (a more adult orientated bar), and the visiting cabaret was fantastic. There is also an over 18's pub and a sports bar where you can watch the football. There was also a cafe bar which served nice food that was reasonably priced.
The park is very scenic with numerous lakes with ducks and swans. We were lucky enough to get a caravan with a balcony right beside one of the smaller lakes in a quiet area of the park. When we go back I would definitely request a caravan in Lakefield which was the area where we stayed. Avoid Tower Lawn if you want to go to bed early, as this is near the entertainment complex. Alternatively if you want to be by the buzz this area would be great for you.
One of the best things about Haggerston Castle is its location. The park itself is just off the A1. The road isn't a problem as the caravans are nowhere near it. You go through a woodland drive before you get into the heart of park. From the park you can go out to explore Northumberland. Berwick is about 10 minutes north, and Holy Island is about 10 minutes south. Bamburgh and Seahouses are a great day out, and it is great for lovely fish and chips, and a boat trip across to the Farne Islands (which were full of puffins and a few seals).
We are definitely going back to Haggerston Castle. There's loads to do on the park. So much that you could quite easily stay on site for your full holiday, but I'd suggest you pop in to the reception and pick up some leaflets on the local tourist attractions, as it really adds to the holiday.
