BE CAREFUL I developed a dry, red eczema like rash under my eyes and it appears as though this isnt uncommon
General Comments
I suffer from dark circles under my eyes and have been paranoid abou this for years. When I first started using Yves St Laurent Touche Eclat I thought it was great as it wasn't heavy like a concealer but did the job at reducing the dark circles however after about 9 - 12 months of use I started to get a red, dry rash right under my lower lash line. I suffer from mild eczema so I though it was that and applied my prescription eczema cream and continued using Touche Eclat. However a friend who doesn't have any skin conditions or sensitive skin noticed the same problem and sensibly (unlike myself) stopped using it and went back to the department store that she had purchased the product from. Whilst making her way to the YSL counter she noticed a display for Dior Skin Flash at the Dior counter so she stopped to discuss it with the Dior rep and mentioned that she was unhappy with YSL TE. Without her mentioning the skin problem the Dior rep stated "Let me guess its caused a red rash under your eyes, Ive heard it all before". When my friend told me this I was amazed as YSL is totally hyped up but I'd never heard of this problem before.
I have now been using Dior Skin Flash for about a year or so and have had no problems what so ever, also the colour choice at Dior is better.

OMG... I have been using Touche Eclat for years but the last two months have been a nightmare with this red rash under my eyes- espy with the run-up to Christmas. I have trawled the internet looking for info and finally found this review. THANK YOU! Now I know what I am dealing with.

Thank God it's not just me who has the same problem with YSL Touche Eclat, I thought I had just developed sensitive skin. I had been using TE for years and got the rash just under one eye, I did keep using TE as I didn't connect the rash to TE, eventually my TE ran out and didn't have time to buy I new one at the time. I started to use my Estee Lauder concealer and the rash went. I've continued using the concealer but thanks to your review Nicky I'm going to the Dior counter this dinner.

HELLOOOO people! Read the 'Expert Review' below... you are supposed to make sure the area is well moisturized and/or mix the product with moisturizer. The MA should've told you this.

on 2nd Feb 2006I wouldnt consider ever putting anything on my face without first using a good quality moisturiser and in this case eye cream. Furthermore I tried using YSL TE with moisturiser, without moisturiser, over foundation and without foundation however the problem persisted. The problem did only occur after a lengthy period of use and I note that at the time of writing 'the 'Expert reviewer' had only been using the product for a short period of time.

I agree with Nicky1.. of course I was using moisturiser and yes I'd tried it under and over make up. The fact remains that there are people out there having a reaction to this product, never mind its usefulness as a cosmetic.

Nicky i totally agree with you, I also use a very good quality moisturiser before applying any kind of make-up, and still i got a really bad reaction to YSL touche eclat. YSL sent me a letter explaining that sometimes people do become allergic to some products after long use, If more people actually wrote to them telling them of the problem they would be able to address this don't you think?

I thought it was me, I don't have sensitive skin at all and have never had a reaction to anything. I purchased my YSL TE while on a flight so was unable to return it to a store, having heard all the hype about this wonderful answer to my dark shadows. I am interested in any other suggestions as to what to purchase for this annoying problem.

I have been plagued by an unsightly, red, itchy rash under my eyes for the last month or so. I couldn't for the life of me think what could be causing it as I hadn't tried anything new on my face. I searched for help on the internet and was gobsmacked to discover YSL Touche Eclat had caused a red rash under the eyes on some people. I realised that this was the culprit because the worse my rash was the more I had used to try and camouflage it! I have been using it on and off over the past few years without any problems but had a longer spell in between this time before buying a new one. I am so pleased to have found the cause but I now need to find an alternative product which is safe to use but just as good. Has anyone any recommendations?
