General Comments
Basically, I'm a US citizen and came to London to study. Since the exchange rate was so bad between 2003- present, I couldn't use my US credit card, and I needed to build credit to get a flat off campus.
Capital one and NatWest were the only ones to give me credit cards. Capital One has never charged me for being over the limit as long as it was paid off before the statement date. Whilst the interest rate is high and the limit is low, it has helped me build my credit and ended up being incredibly conveninent. With such a low limit, it's difficult to get into spiraling debt, and it's a very manageable card.
The only downside is that the customer service lines are not open 24 hours a day like other banks, but Capital One does have a good niche market with people with no or bad credit.
