Good Points

I thought Beaverbrooks was quality. Expensive but worth it. Good craftsmanship. Staff were very helpful at purchase point, and after during cleaning service.

Bad Points

It didn't last!

General Comments

Five years after the wedding a diamond has fallen out of my wedding ring that I bought at Beaverbrooks (a diamond set 3 stone 18ct gold band), which is currently retailing at £450, and it is supposed to be due to me knocking my hand on the door or something! Is this good craftsmanship? Beaverbrooks said it would cost £175 to repair it, and then said "but hey we'll give it you for £125 because you've bought it here". I expected a wedding ring to last forever if i looked after it. I regularly had both my rings cleaned, which are expensive to say the least, and they checked for any problems each time, but now I am told that this doesn't matter because anything can happen when you leave the store. There is no guarantee that the rings are quality, and apparently the diamond may have split! I thought it was good quality. Why would it split after such a short period of married life? Great hard wearing diamonds at Beaverbrooks? I feel very let down with the wedding ring, and now wonder if the big one (engagement) has just as short a lifespan.

I am a jeweller in the caribbean, but grew up in the UK and started my career in the jewellery trade with Beaverbooks! I have worked in the U.K, U.S.A, the caribbean, Asia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, Russia, Fiji, Mexico and Australia and I must say that Beaverbrooks allowed me to offer the best customer service ever! In my experience Beaverbrooks stand by their product 100%. If you knock a diamond (the hardest gem known to man) in the right place, regardless of it being purchased for £100.00 - £10,000.00 in beaverbrooks or £1,000,000.00 in Tiffany, it can fracture! Nature gave us this incredible gem, but it is by no means indestructible! Enjoy you jewellery with at least some minimal care!!!!

I have worked as a jeweller for some years now, although never for Beaverbrooks and unfortunatly diamonds although hard wearing are not indestructible, if you knock a diamond you can in fact break it, expecially if it already has a feathered inclusion inside the stone. Things such as accidentally pulling a claw out of shape can also result in losing the stone. People do so much with their hands that 9/10 knocks to a ring go unnoticed even if your're being careful. The price Beaverbrooks offered is actually very reasonable.

I agree! I also work in jewellery and I find it frustrating when people think that their jewellery is indestructible!
When it is an item that you wear everyday, it is inevitable that wear and tear will occur, especially over a number of years. Despite jewellery being well crafted, you cannot make it indestructible.

The other comments are right, diamonds can split, no matter how much you pay for them.
