Good Points

First off, the phone oozes with class. There is no phone that I've seen that's prettier than this one. People would complain about the keys, but when you actually use them, it kind of .. sticks out and you don't have that hard of a time pressing them. The main good thing about everything is the set up of the software. Like all nokias, it's easy to use and makes things fast. Little things make it useful, like, when someone hangs up, it actually makes a noise telling you that. This is really useful if you talk on the phone at night and don't look at the handset (or if you use handsfree). Some of the other phones don't have this function and you don't know whether it's the reception or what. The keypad is really good, prevents buttons being pressed, and locking it is REAL easy. You just semi open the phone, then close it and push the button.. no need to find the * key etc. Unlocking is easy too. The handfree and charger, you can use with all 8210, 8310, 8250 etc AS WELL as the batteries (and handsfree sets). Alot of people have these cheaper phones, and it's great when you run out of batteries and you need to charge at a mates house, or if you need to borrow their batteries for a second. The charger also works with the 33** series.. actually, nearly all the newer model's charger works with it.

Bad Points

There's no real case for the phone. there's the leather wallet where the phone can sit... but there's nothing that encases the phone out that... that's I've found so far. There's also no dual sim card holder. I've asked around, looked around and again, there's nothing that I've found. so you can see already, in regards to all the little things that you need to keep the phone looking new and practical... it isn't there. It's also an expensive phone to keep. Repairs cost HEAPS, and replacing the case (which I have since there's no cover) is very, very expensive without warranty. You've got to pay for each INDIVDUAL part. Like the "A" piece, sliding cover, antenna etc. So like I said, it's expensive to keep running long term. The reception is OK, nothing flash but for a phone that big, you know? In the end, it's the same antenna for the 8210, 8250 etc. It doesn't have wap, gprs all those things.. it also DOESN'T have composer. which... is weird since you can store new tones. There's no timer while you call... nor is there audible timers like with the motorolas. really important if you make free calls (eg, first 15 mins free etc). saves you ALOT of money in the long run, worth trying to find one that does. Compared to some of the other phones (eg, 8855 Especially the 8250), the light is kinda dull... but the colour is really unique and looks really cool and distinguishable from other phones....real handy if your in a club and someone sees it and thinks (eh... he's got an 8850) without having to see you phone. <-- superficial eh? :) I don't like the calender functions on the phone. don't try to use it as an organiser. It doesn't do it's job well. Newer phones have full month displays and that makes everything alot easier.

General Comments

Overall, I feel this phone is one of the classiest ones you can score. In regards to costs, it's expensive if you want to KEEP THE PHONE FOR A LONG TIME cause you got to pay for those cases etc. But if it's a short term thing, I still (as well as everyone else I know) that it's a much cooler phone than all those new bright ones. Little things make it a good phone, but to be fair, it lacks features of many of the new ones. (it is a much older phone though). If I could, i'd take the board and chipsets of the newer phones with gprs, bluetooth and colour screens, and case it in my 8850 case.. if I could!. :) I work in a phone store, i'm in work now.. lol and I really recommend one.. if you find an old one in condition, buy it, it's great if you DON"T need all the new features. Compared to whats out there now.... it lacks features. But compared to the old school stuff, it rocks. When I bought it, it was the cream of the crop... it still is, to an extent. Hope this was useful.~tansfer
