Good Points

Amazingly gripping memoirs of a young man dragged in to a violent world - very difficult to put down!

Bad Points

A bit on the short side - but there's no padding!

General Comments

'Its Only Pain!' is a truly gripping, often funny, extremely violent story of naivety, friendship, family differences, Special Forces operations and guerrilla warfare.
All of the events in this book are based on true experiences.
At the age of seventeen, after a childhood of being trained in various martial arts, Andy Hopwood is invited to travel overseas to join a military combat school; despite the wishes of his family he accepts the invitation - this experience leads him to great friendships, incredible adventures and causes him to be subjected to many violent confrontations and conflict situations, witnessing the deaths of many friends along the way.
He describes in no-nonsense style how he made the transition from an arrogant teenager to a young man that had been mentally and emotionally broken
