General Comments

I asked Mobile Shop for a delivery to be made to my mother's address because I will be based there for work purposes in the next two weeks. I was told they would only deliver to my home or business address so they lost a sale, citing security reasons. Quite frankly, I can think of no-one more secure than my mother to take delivery of the new phone I wished for. I spoke to a sales advisor and her supervisor, who repeated the same brainless mantra on the subject. I was also told that the next one up in the chain of command, MD , does not speak to or deal directly with customers. I was therefore rather surprised to see his smug acceptance on this website of some praise from a satisfied customer. So it seems according to his staff he's happy to deal with satisfied customers, but doesn't want to deal with those of us with a critical point to make. How sad is that?

I think what Mobile Shop did was right. It is not a kind of excuse. It is really for security reasons. All online businesses send parcels only to the address you register with your bank. You would have to either change your bank details or your mother order a phone for you in which case she will have to pay for each month's bill. I have shopped online a lot. Personally I do not think it is fair for you not to recommend this company only because of this experience of yours. Sorry about this.

The only response I can make is that I have also shopped extensively online and mobileshop.com is alone, in my experience, in refusing my request to send goods to an address other than my home. In this way I have sent CDs, books and other items to family and friends. I have no reason to believe mobileshop.com fails in any other area of its customer service, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who wants an item sent to a perfectly ligitimate destination address and why would I? It's a service they refuse to consider so they lost my business and perhaps that of other potential customers. I also note you did not address the point I made about the hypocritical stance of mobileshop.com's MD (happy to acknowledge praise, not so keen to deal with disatisfied customers, which is hardly a recommendation in my book).
