General Comments

Picked up this player 3 weeks ago from RS. It's played everything I've chucked at it and would probably get a picture from a beer mat! Still pictures in SVCD format are very watchable and it will allegedly play Kodak style PhotoCD's (untested) I haven't tested the prog scan yet as my TV can't use it. Remote is easy to use as are the on screen menus All the sockets you could want on the back and at price that's just short of theft. Highly recommended.

Clear and concise review with lots of relavent information. PS Can you post the macrovision hack for the 9900SE.

Could napoleon and others possibly be an employees of richer sounds? The dvd player is very good but seems to be based on H&B players, which themselves are clones of other machines, which you can pick up with the exact same specs for about £80 or less. So richer sounds seems to be a lot more profit then they would otherwise. Of course i could be wrong about the whole thing, but i dont think so.

Response to Karl No, I'm not an RS employee. The fact that the Limit may or may not be a clone doesn't mean that the "original" is available. It certainly isn't advertised. The information I got (from other forums) related to the use of the same Prog Scan chip as the Arcam, which was good enough for me, especially as I could get hold of a limit!!

PS Macrovision enable is part of the VCD hack

Napoleon, do you know who owns or who is the LIMIT brand? Can you say where we can access the other forums that you refered to, it would be a great help to find out about 'clones'?

I have recently bought a 9900 from RS and I was very suspicious as to why they are pushing the Limit Brand so hard. Is Limit their own brand? I took back the first 9900 as the front panel was live and I could feel electrical current tingling my fingers when I touched it, the second one I exchanged it for is worse. Has anyone else had this problem? Try lightly running the back of your finger over the front panel. It feels as if it is buzzing, this stops when you touch one of the mounting screws on the side at the same time.
