General Comments

I can't believe Pro Evolution Soccer 5 has gotten such a good user rating here. That's got to be a joke right? I'm a Pro Evo Fan, had every single game loved them all. But this one is utterly hopeless.

You can't pass correctly, I would understand if it was just the odd pass going astray, but it's about one in three. This makes it extremely hard to keep possesion.

It's very difficult to beat an opponent when you do finally string a few passes together, due to the fact that the speed at which a skillfull player like Zidane, for example, turns and jinks with the ball is staggeringly slow.

In my opinion the speed of the matchplay itself has slowed down considerably from PES4.

To score a goal in the game is a miracle, it's that difficult. To be honest I find it easier belting one in from the miles out, How is that more simple to do!?

The most crazy thing of all is the amount of free kicks that are given throughout the game. By the way this is not just my team but the computer team too. The slightest touch and the freekick is given! The whistle never stops, utterly ruining free flowing football.

I should say that I do not and never have found PES 4 difficult. Sure I would get beat now and again, but that's part of the fun right? At least in the old game you could challenge any team on any difficulty level, in this one all the fun and enjoyment has been sucked out.

So as I said earlier, Why have you given it such a good rating? Do you all work for Konami?
I do not believe for a second that a true fan of Pro Evo and football in general would appreciate this garbage.

Message to Konami, Thankyou for 1 to 4. But with 5 you've made a beautiful game very ugly.

Jonny.

    Hi Jonny,

I've had the game a couple of weeks now and starting to get the hang of it. Totally agree with you about the free kicks and the speed factor of the players. When I'm Ronaldo I should be able to skip past the fullbacks with ease, but even when I get past them, a typical slowcoach can get back and tackle me.

However I must disagree with your comments about the 'enjoyability' of the game. I find it testing game and feel it's a good representation of the modern game. I like the fact you can't hammer it in 'FIFA-esque' from just anywhere and I think the difficulty helps make the game more enjoyability - I certainly savour my goals!

    Good review by the way.
