General Comments

I would recommend Alton Towers to anybody! It is set in lovely gardens and the different 'zones' give the pleasure of the park to all ages. I would first like to recommend the B&B I stayed in, it is called 'Chained Oak Farm', which is only a 5 min walk from Alton Towers, and for those who have been on Hex, the old oak tree can be found here - www.chainedoak.com

As you park your car, you must go on the monorail to the park entrance. You will then buy your tickets, and if you wish pay the £4 parking token fee there and then! You will get a silver token for this money - which you give in when you leave. You now scan the ticket/annual pass at the entrance, and you have now entered Alton Towers! Although walking around is the obvious choice of transport, Alton Towers have a chairlift called Skyride. This will get you from 'Merrie England' to the 'Forbidden Valley' (the home of Nemesis and Air), and then to 'Cred Street' (which is right next to Ug Land, home of Rita - Queen Of Speed). Unfortunately, the Skyride only operates on the left side of the park, but the right side contains the 'X Sector', home to Oblivion - 60m up, 200ft down!

I feel the end of October (near the fireworks and adrenaline week) is the best time of year to visit. Rita always has AT LEAST a 30 minute queue (or it did when I visited), but rides such as Nemesis, Air, and Oblivion were barely 5 minutes!!
It is worth a visit to Alton Towers, and the B&B I recommended above now has a lot more rooms - I advise you stay there!
