I used to work for Premier Lodge, and I was there for the conversion to Premier Travel Inn. On a personal note I find that the changes going into make the old Premier Lodge's into Premier Travel Inn's are a down grade. Premier Lodge used to offer open accounts and room transfers, as well as 6ft beds and more tea and coffee. I found when the changes came about, Whitbread seemed more focused on paperwork rather than customer satisfaction. Premier Travel Inn reports have to be printed every hour, and this consists of about 25 to 30 sheets of paper being used, and then binned instead of recycling. (This might seem like a bitchy statement on my part, it's not, I did enjoy working for Whitbread, and would go back tomorrow. I only left my job for accommodation reasons). Whitbread offer a 100% Guarantee of a good night sleep, this is a plus if you have the balls to go to them in the morning and complain about nothing. You are fully entitled to your money back, just have a decent reason ready why you didn't sleep well, and if they challenge it, complain, because it's meant to be a no hassle refund.

I wouldn't recommend complaining to get your money back unless there actually was something wrong. Knowing from working at the Hotel chain, you can be black-listed and refused accommodation in the future and I'm not entirely sure but believe these lists are past to other hotel chains as well. So it's probably best not to abuse the system unless you weren't 100% satisfied.

Plus the hotel will try to solve your disatifaction at the source rather than resort to the whole money back thing!!

I would say Travel in is a great budget hotel and know, as a former staff member, I gave 110% to ensure customers had a pleasant stay
