Some of the rides, lack of queue's, the zoo.
The staff, the food, the layout.
It was my first visit to Drayton Manor this week, and it was the last day of the 'Off-Peak' season, and although I wasn't expecting it to be as good as Alton Towers, I still thought it would be better than it was!
The layout is pretty rubbish. It's a bit like it has been built on a car park (like at a visiting fairground).
It has some good rides though, and plenty for the little kids, but not so many rides for thrill seekers (about 5 or 6), and 3 of these were closed! So there was not much for us to do really, (we being 3 teenage thrill-ride lovers!) However 1 ride, a brand new one, did open at 12 and shut at 4, which was a bit stupid seeing as it was brand new ride!
I read in the paper the other day that 'Brummies' are the rudest people in Britain, and if Drayton Manor is anything to go by then that is correct! The staff were rubbish, bored, miserable and sometimes rude, also unfriendly and unhelpful.
Don't get me started on the food!! TAKE YOUR OWN!! It seems to be expensive everywhere, and from what we ate, disgusting as well. We went to a teashop/snack shop and the pirate burger bar... Never again! Seriously, take your own food!
It's not all bad!! The Zoo is fabulous, informative, and with a wide range of animals. From very loud parrots to growling tigers! However, it is a bit on the small side, and you would get everything done in about 60 to 90 minutes if you dragged everything out. However, one mischievous little group of animals not to be missed are the monkeys by the entrance (can't remember their names), but they are brilliant, and if you don't laugh at their antics then you are inhuman!
We paid £17.00 to get into the park, off-peak season.
Taxi's cost about £5.00 from Tamworth Station.
Another thing... If you've been told that the walk from the station to the park is short or 'do-able' ignore it, because it's really not!
I reckon young children would love the park, but if your a fan of the big exciting parks like Alton Towers, then Drayton Manor is maybe not the place for you!
