General Comments

We were looking for a late holiday this year and the computer came up with the Barbie Apartment in Rhodes. My first thoughts were of pink parasols and heart shaped pools but after a quick check on this site, and seeing the very positive feedback we decided to book.

We were not disappointed, everything we had been told turned out to be true. The apartments were first class, friendly, exceptionally clean, and very reasonably priced. They are well located close to the centre of Triada but in a quiet area with little traffic. You can have breakfast, lunch and evening meals at the apartments or walk to one of the excellent restaurants which are within a few hundred wards. One that we liked was The Knights of Olde which is on the Main Street in Trianda and has a delicious selection of Greek food, by far the best we have had on any of our Greek Island Holidays.



This was our first visit to Rhodes and I was very impressed, there is lots to see and do and the weather was perfect in early October. From Trianda it is only an eight euro taxi ride to Rhodes town and well worth a visit. The Old Town is particularly interesting, as is the harbour and the Grandmasters Palace. If you prefer shopping the new town has all the designer shops and big stores.



The only down side to Triada are the beaches, they are all pebbly but the water is clear and warm once you get in. Don't sit on a sun bed for a week go out and see the Island. We hired a car for three days, the roads are not too busy and Lindos is well worth a visit. Its of an hour by car, you can spend a day there and it has a good beach as well as lots to see. You can go by coach but I'm told it takes two hours and you only get three hours at Lindos.



All in all we had a great holiday, we will be going back to Rhodes and I can recommend the Barbie Apartments, The Knight of Olde restaurant and the Trianda resort. We booked through Direct Holidays it was good value for money, although I would take a taxi from the airport next time. It's only 10 euros and saves you sitting on a bus for an hour waiting on other flights to come in.
