Good Points

Smooth revvy engine
Good grip and handling when new
Nice styling


Bad Points

Under-damped suspension bottoms out
Premature suspension bushes failure at 48K
Premature engine failure (cam-belt) at 59K


General Comments

My initial favourable impressions of the Alfa Romeo 147 have been replaced with dissatisfaction.
The ride has always beeen a bit uncontrolled: despite new bushes thoughout it is now still useless and it jitters around all over the place, at least it did until the engine expired with a broken cam belt at 59K. Alfa Romeo say that the replacement mileage of 72K is not mandatory. If they really mean 36K, then they should say so and refund the cost of the rebuild. Stay away from this car unless Alfa Romeo change their attitude!
