1) Fantastic engine note when pushed
2) Very good looks externally (choose metallic black)
3) Comfortable for a roadster
4) Low 30's mpg
5) Surprisingly spacious boot
6) Ultra fast hood
7) Great fun!
1) Interior ok but a little dull and plasticky
2) Steering feels unsure especially when decelerating
I'd never owned a sports car before and for almost 2 years had aspired to owning a Boxster. I had the money, test drove the Porsche twice, and was just about to put my order in when - just to make sure - I test drove a BMW Z4, which led to me choosing that instead. It wasn't just the fact that when comparing like with like specs the nearly new 2.5 was saving me around £8,000 compared to the Boxster 2.7 (not to be sniffed at though), I just simply found it a better car. In metallic black and beige leather, it is a thing of beauty, and although the steering initially takes some getting used to (it is less sure footed than the clinically efficient Porsche) it is a fabulous, exciting, thrilling thing to drive. Usually cars start to lose their novelty factor with me after a month or so, but five months on I just find this thing growing and growing on me. If nothing else convinces you though, take a test drive, and whether roof is up or down, just listen to that engine note.
When most people arrive back home from work the last thing they want to do is go back out again. Except me. I need to hear that sound again.
