General Comments

I returned from the Binimar on 8/10/05 having spent a week there with my husband & 2 yr old son. We were very unlucky with the weather (it rained from Sat Night - Thursday Morning thunderstorms the lot). The accomodation is very basic and would probably be ok as a base, but because we didn't have good weather we were stuck in resort. The 'entertainment' only began at 10pm at night (earliest) and appeared to consist of the usual third rate tribute nonesense. It was in fact a blessing in disguise that we couldn't go as the lille one was sound asleep in his bed! The resort itself consists of tat shops and English pubs. We asked where the best beach was and was told Blanes - when we got there it was situated at the bottom of what looked like a dirt track. We were also warned by fellow holiday makers about jellyfish! Luckily we got 2 nice days at the end of our holiday and ventured to the pool (there are 3 - all as cold as each other). If you're taking small children then get them an all in one wet suit for the pool - it was freezing even when the sun had been out for a while. If your ideal holiday is sitting in an English bar watching Sky Sports drinking beer then this is the place for you. The local bars/restaurants cater for the beer & chips crowd (virtually everything comes with chips and/or is deep fried), and we got sick and tired of locals handing Chuppa lollies directly to my 2 year old - I kind of like him with all his own teeth thanks! So we then had tantrum throwing into the mix when we wouldn't let him have them! We were bitterly disappointed with the lack of interaction with the reps, they seemed to vanish with the sun and then annoying reappeared to offer 'Darts in the Hut' when we finally got some decent weather. Admittedly the weather compounded our misery, but i certainly wouldn't go back to this resort let alone accomodation. For a family resort it really is sadly lacking in family entertainment or facilities. My husband compared it to Blackpool, however as a fully fledged Lancastrian I'm afraid Blackpool is streets ahead! Nappies are very expensive here (fortunately I took my own) and if you have children and you want them to have a reasonably balanced diet make sure you take plenty of snacks etc as you won't find anything here at all to break the monotony of chips - no I tell a lie I managed to acquire Spaghetti Bolognese from a couple of the restaurants but even my little monster won't eat it twice a day for a week! The accomodation is pretty basic - clean enough but a bit grubby. There was a restaurant on site which we didn't try as it only opens at 6.30pm & my toddler goes to bed by 7.00pm! There is take away which was ok - the best that was on offer (if you like Pizza (and chips of course!)) The airport transfer time was given as 45 mins when i booked but took over 2 hours in reality. Some people staying at the same time loved it - it just wasn't for us! So now to saving for next year......
