Bad Points
None really.
General Comments
I bought my Canon EOS 300D digital camera in June this year, and I have found it a worthy successor to previous Canon film cameras (EOS 50E and EOS 100), with all the main features of those cameras, but all the advantages of digital.
With regards to the sometimes criticised construction, it seems a good solid camera to me, and is of similar construction to my EOS 100, and it should last as long as any other modern camera.
The missing custom functions (flash compensation, and mirror lock-up etc...) can be simply installed with a firmware update from the 10D, and it is easily available on the internet for a few pounds, therefore addressing that omission from the 300D's specification, if it is a concern to you.
It seems a better camera to hold and use than the diminutive 350d, which seems designed for female hands.
In my experience 6 million pixels is also plenty enough for large poster prints (which would not be too often anyway), as most of my prints are A4, for which even 3 million pixels on a good camera is sufficient for good sharp prints. I also use a Fuji S602, which also produces great prints, and that only technically has 3 million pixels.
Indeed, most of the time the quality seems as good as the Canon, particularly at A4.
Considering that when I used film, most of my prints were 7 by 5, my 300D is fine for my requirements.
The manufacturers need us to constantly replace our cameras to keep them in business, but the 300D has sufficient resolution for most, and it is fast to use, produces great prints, is solid but not too heavy, and has access to all the Canon fitting lenses, of which I have several.
Also the battery lasts for ages!
In closing, I would thoroughly recommend this camera, which, at today's discounted prices, is top value for money.
