Good Points
Excellent musicality.

Bad Points
It is not a dedicated stereo Amp.

General Comments
I searched for a good compromise between A/V and stereo performance. Arcam claimed the lead in this aspect, but prices are exaggerated. Therefore I took the plunge and I chose this Marantz receiver. And I have not been disappointed, making use of the bi-amping feature in this device, plus pure direct mode, gives you very satisfactory musical qualities, clear vocals and clear orchestrations, which is not easy to find in an A/V receiver.

The sound coming from the loudspeakers is the pure, unadulterated sound of music I very much wanted to hear. I tried mostly CD's, but multichannel music surprised me with more spaciousness. And finally, DVD video also surprised me with a degree of sound steering I hadn't heard before. All in all, a very satisfied customer I am.
