Tiny but chunky, screen, sound quality, battery life.
Navigation, manual, having to load a firmware upgrade from new.
The Packard Bell AudioDream MP3 player is an utterly gorgeous device. It has a great 'metal' look and feel, and the tiny screen is beautifully clear, also the sound quality is superb. I got it for a friend, so I didn't use the supplied headphones, but on standard dynamic units the volume is fine at about half-setting.
Apparently there are software issues with early ones, and you need to do a firmware update when you get it out of the box, but this done, it goes flawlessly. The manual is total rubbish of course.
Navigation is a bit tricky, and I can't see why it shouldn't start up where you left it, but this is my first experience of the things, so they might all be like that.
Again, why can't you sort tracks by ID3 tag? Getting a whole album to play in order on one of these things is really tricky. Tip: Use one folder per album, then use [track number - title], I had to do a lot of renaming when loading the tracks, and you need to be PC literate to do it quickly. Try a search for ID3-TagIT.
Battery life was about 8 hours on my 1GB model, and yes, AAA batteries would be more useful, although they would make this tiny little thing quite a bit bigger.
Well pleased with it though.
