Good Points

Live Pause - Recording.

Bad Points

Rubbish Boxes - Second box in eighteen months - first box March 2004 - second box January 2005 - Second box gone wrong (problem recording) have tried everything - Sky customer services say we need another box and we're going to have to pay! Surely this is still under guarantee? We've been told not, and that the guarantee is from March 2004. Each box has a 90 day guarantee, and this means after three months a new box could go wrong.

General Comments

Although we have been generally quite happy with Sky+, I do feel we have been let down this time. I feel that Sky have wiped their hands of us. Surely we can cancel Sky and re-introduce ourselves, and therefore get a free box!!

Quite simply in the world of consumerism - take them to small claims court, or if that feels a little harsh for you - trading standards.

In the words from the sales of goods act - which I assume this applies... the goods and services you have recieved from sky have not been "fit for the purpose to which they were purchased"

Quite simply warranties and guarantees actually hold no water in the eyes of the law. A TV for example is expected to last a minimum of 5 years you should expect... therefore if it fails earlier than that you can by rights expect the retailer or supplier to at least repair it for free or at best - replace it entirely.

No magistrate or judge would ever think that a "warranty" of just 90 days for a piece of modern technology good enough nor would trading standards.

With all this in mind, first phonecall should be to trading standards - second phone call to Sky after getting advice from them - see how it goes - don't let them give you the shrug off.

    Good luck

    Chris

You can't cancel and come back as a 'new' customer even if you apply in another persons name as they check previous installations by home addresses to stop people doing just that! I would contact your local trading standards or consumer advice centre. Also if you get a new box try and ask for a Pace model, they are the best ones.
