Salesman was realistic and not pushy (big surprise there).
Ridiculous prices for people with more money than sense. Rip off finance scheme.
My girlfriend persuaded me to let Dolphin quote for my small bathroom, though I knew they would be pricey. Like others, I get the feeling the salesman makes all his decisions about you from looking at the property and what car you have. Oddly, he was driving a P Reg car (albeit a nice Rover), I daresay this was his sales car to give the impression of not being too flashy.
In short, for a bath. power shower, sink, toilet and half wall tiles, the price was £8000. The products are no better than you can get at Homebase or B&Q. The Finance Scheme was £150 per month over 10 years, coming to £18,000 in total!
I don't think there is a scientific method to the price, I think they just make it up to see what they can get away with. You're better off getting the stuff yourself and employing decent tradesmen to put it in.
