New machines, bright interiors. Classes range from horrible to very good (experienced and unexperienced teachers).
Usually over crowded, cramped, muggy. Lots of oogling. Poor customer service.
For the expense I think there are far better gyms in the Boston area. The Boston Sports Club served it's purpose when I lived in an area that had no others, but I would never go back-- especially after some awful customer service interactions (I never had one positive one). The crowds become unbearable mid-winter: most of the Boston Sports Club locations are very cramped. The locker rooms are tiny and lockers are frequently not availiable. The best thing I can say about the club is that they maintain and replace their machines well and a few of the classes are good. But as I said, you do not want to be trapped into a contract with the people-- they will try to take you for all you're worth while being complete pains (customer service). I would never recommend a friend to join this club.
