Good Points

The hotel is in a beautiful location, and the staff are very friendly.

Bad Points

The food could do with a bit more effort, mostly only luke warm. Breakfast and evening meal not too bad, but lunch a disaster.

General Comments

We have just come back from a lovely holiday in Watamu Beach Hotel with AFC, The hotel is really nice, the rooms are a bit basic but clean, the night entertainment is limited and not great, but you can go to the come back club in the village which has shows on most weekend nights which are very entertaining, with only 100 schilings to get in (£1) and a beer 80 cents it is well worth it. The safari we booked with hotel was a bit of a disaster as our truck broke down about 11 times. AFC tell you not to book anything with the beach boys but we found them to be great fun , helpful and a lot cheaper than the hotel, we went snorkeling with two of them Raymond and Mr Smally, they collected you at the gate took you snorkeling gave you loads of information about the surounding area they knew where the best reefs were, you can snorkle for as long as you like and they will drop you back of at the hotel gate again. I highly recomend these two guys they do safari's and many more trips as well and next time I go back I will go to them for they know the best places, best safari camps and great value for money. You will find these two on the beach. If you want a tour and history of the village without hassle from locals ask for Collins and Harrison they both speak excellent English, and know so much about village life, they take you to the little back street shops where you can buy carvings and trinkets a lot cheaper than the shops on the main road. They can also tell you about the orphanage in the village and the different cultures living there basically anything you want to know. We gave them a tip of about a £5 which delighted them, they will also take you to the Comeback Club in the evening if you are nervous about being in the village at night they wait for you at the gate and drop you back there. You can find these guys in the village anytime just ask and someone will get them. This was one of the best holidays I was ever on and I would have no hesitation in recomending it, oh beware of the mosquitos take plenty of repellent.

I have just found out recently that Collins and Harrison can tell you sad stories about their children being sick and needing care, so don't fall for this. It is an easy way for them to get money off tourists, so be aware of stories like this. None of them are true. I have learned the hard way.
