Good Points

After sitting here for about 10 minuites trying to think of a SINGLE! good thing to say about this machine I have decided that this is good reason enough to say that there is not one...nope...not a single one.

Bad Points

I had problems with the: Screen, sound components, the AMD 950 Duron's power always never seemed to reach full speed and was slow in almost every operation, the graphics, trying to get a single game (of any spec) to play at full capacity was almost always imposible, a battery life with an embaressing duration when unplugged, out dated software that needed updating immediatly after perchace, support from both Compaq and the retailer (not the machines fault, granted) and just recently the cooling fan died wich left the 701FR crippled, constantly over heating and crashing every 10 minuites resulting in improper shutdown, not to mention the inability to switch on!...to name but a few.

General Comments

I brought the HP Compaq Presario 701FR for £1300 when it was (compared to the rest of the laptops on the market), quite a good spec. I found that soon after purchase I started having problems with almost everything. I was unable to play any of games I installed on it either through the inability to support the software or, as the sales assistant in 'PC World' Peterborough told me, "...What can I tell you, some games just don't work on laptops..."Ok, I'm not the most switched on when it comes to pc's etc, but this guy was in the wrong job! I wouldn't buy this laptop again if it was £13.00, let alone the whopping £1,300 I paid originally and I wouldn't encourage anyone to buy this machine, especially not now there are far better ones out.
