General Comments

I had a MasterCard account that was sold to Providian Emerge, after I had closed the account. Imagine my surprise when I was informed that my "account" had been transferred. "What account, it's closed", is what I tried to get through to these people, but to no avail. Several times since then, I have obtained a copy of my credit report, only to find an account with Emerge/FNBO listed as "open", yet balance is $0 and has been for the last 3 years. Experian must be bigger idiots than Emerge by reporting this imaginary information, and for considering themselves to be a reliable source of credit information. I cannot find any way to contact these people, and I have no idea what the supposed account number is if I do. I can't see how it can be legal for them to hold accounts in our names without our "Expressed Written Permission."
