Just got back from a fortnight at the Greenland hotel, and we probably won't be going again. Our room was quite small and the grouting in the shower was black, with a black mould patch on the ceiling. The mini bar (fridge) in our room was not working and smelled awful when we opened it. Although we informed reception twice about it, it was never fixed. There is plenty to eat if you like salad, minced lamb and chicken. We found that we had to eat our main meal out after the second week as the food was so repetative.
There is only one type of beer on offer and the local drinks are limited. There is a nice big pool, but on close inspection it had a dirty line around the edge. One morning we woke up to find a dead chicken floating in some water by the main footpath, it was left there for some time before it was removed. The entertainment was much the same every night, kids stuff first, then bingo, karaoke or quizzes. A couple of nights a week they had dancers in. The entertainment ended at Midnight.
The entertainment staff were good with kids and did their best to involve everyone, but other staff were not very friendly. Although our mini-bar was not working, we did have a couple of cans of coke out of it, which we were careful to replace. However, when we checked out, the receptionist handed us the cans we had put back, saying that the hotel couldn't accept them, and proceeded to bill us for them (obviously at a much higher cost than we had paid in the supermarket)! How petty. We also had to pay for our safety deposit box. As our flight wasn't until 2.00am we asked if we could pay extra to keep our room on, as the rooms have to be vacated by midday, but were told we couldn't as the hotel was full, although they did offer us somewhere to shower. It felt like once your holiday there was coming to an end, they really couldn't have cared less, which was a shame.
