Good Points

After having the 1998 Jeep Cherokee sport for some 7 years it was time for a change. We had a new 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport previously. The Jeep model was discontinued and now it was time for something to replace it with. We liked the visibility with the instrumentation center in the center of the dash. We liked the acceleration for a 4 cylinder with the automatic. The automatic shifted well and almost un-noticabably. we liked the leather interior on our SE. This vehicle is very quiet at all speeds compared to the 1998 Jeep; this vehicle also rode more like a car rather than a "truck" which we liked! The door & body fits are great.

Bad Points

The rear glass, and massive sunroof should have the deep tinted UV glass for when the sun is out it heats up like a greenhouse.
We were most disappointed that there is not an automatic turning on of the headlights & taillights when dusk comes; that is a real negative to us. Also, the spare tire which has the tire to match the rest of the 4 other vehicle tires should be mounted on the similar (alloy) rim so it can be incorporated into a driving tire & rim. The spare is a black steel rim!

General Comments

I am somewhat perplexed with the Nissan X-Trail as to why the plastic front fenders? and wonder how they will hold up in the long term. We liked the mounting of the gear-shift on this vehicle as compared to the Honda CRV where it is oddly mounted on the dash. We liked the spare being in the vehicle below the floor as compared to Honda's CRV and Toyota's RAV being mounted on the rear where they are subject to impact and costly body ship repair bills! The ride in this vehicle is far superior to that of the Honda & Toyota competition.
