Product selection and order placement are fine (you can choose delivery date).
Delivery promises not met, queues to phone call centre and wrong info given.
I ordered a bed from Argos on Thursday evening and selected Monday for delivery (web site said 8am to 6pm). So far so good. I phoned at 8am on Monday (only 5 minutes queue) to get an approximate time for delivery, as I had to go out some time in the day. They confirmed that it would be delivered that day (Monday) but they could not give me a time. So I had to stay at home all day. At 6pm I phoned again (20 minutes queue) and was told it could be any time up to 8pm, but I could check with the delivery company (Home Delivery Network on 0870 154 5432). I asked why they had not given me that number in the morning and they said they were not allowed to give it out until after 6pm (i.e when they had failed to deliver on time). I queued for 5 minutes to phone Home Delivery Network, who said the goods had only come into their warehouse the night before and so were too late for Monday's delivery. I asked when they would be delivered and was told "in 2 to 3 working days". At this point I exploded and demanded a better promise. Eventually I was told it would be Tuesday but they could not tell me what time. I waited at home all day but nothing arrived. At 7pm I cancelled the order.
I give Argos a high 'Value for money' rating - otherwise I would not have ordered in the first place. Also I have had much better experiences in the past with products collected from a store. However I can not recommend Argos for products needing home delivery - so my overall rating is low.
