General Comments

I bought the Makarov after seeing all the good reviews on this site I ordered it from JS Ramsbottom for £60. When I received it it came in a Bakial plastic carry case with a Brocock sticker on it it was well wrapped in greaseproof paper and came with a spare set of seals and a pack of 200 copper BBs but no manual.
The gun has a good weight to it and looks like the real thing (most of the parts are from the real gun) there were a few marks and scratches on the gun.
I loaded it up with the copper BBs d started shooting glass bottles in my back yard it was pretty inaccurate but did the job but the trigger pull was rock hard and very uncomfortable. I find the gun is more accurate if you use it as a 1 stage gun and cock the trigger before firing then I tried using the lead BBs and they were much more accurate than the copper but wouldn't smash a bottle and they kept mutating in the magazine and would jam the gun so after 4 magazines worth of shots the trigger started to play up and wouldn't pull the hammer and fire so I sent it off to JSR for a refund and they said that I have abused it and they will repair it for me so one week later they sent it back and the same happened again so I sent it back and am still waiting for a refund.
So basically the gun is a piece of rubbish but my friend has the same gun but he has a softer matt rubber grips and my Makarov has a cheap shiny plastic grips and he has had his gun for 3 years with no problems and the trigger pull is much more smoother so if your looking to buy a Makarov look out for the one with the black matt rubber grips.

Hey, sorry you got a dud one - it does happen occasionally with all guns. Like your friend, I've had mine for 3 years, and never had any problems. Its now shot well over 10,000 rounds. Those soft rubber grips you mention are an aftermarket addition to the gun, and are made by Pearce Grips (USA). My Mak wears them, and they truly transform the pistol! You might like to try getting a second hand Mak - lower investment, and it'll have been already "broken in" for you. They're great fun, once you learn the knack of shooting them! Cheers.

    HI Kiwi47,

Are you in NZ? Did you buy from Gun City?
I'm considering a Mak, are the GC ones good?

Sounds like you had the same problem that I did, It just didnt fire after the forth or fifth magazine, took it back and they replaced it so im hoping that the new one won't do the same thing :)
