Perhaps a tad heavy if you have a smaller frame?


General Comments

I got this rifle quite recently, I have not been shooting very long, But I love this gun. Being 6ft means that the rifle is easy to handle, and that weight soaks up recoil like anything. My scope has'nt slipped yet, (hooray for promounts) and I can easily punch through metal at 30 yards.

    The reviews here have given me a lot of the information i was looking for, i am soon going to purchase an air rifle, and have decided that i want an under lever or break barrel spring gun, and the models i am considering are the Webley Stingray or Tomahawk, the BSA supersport or a Wierauch, probably the 97K or perhaps i will save a bit and get the 95K.
    Will i get a large benefit from spending the extra on the 97K over the less expensive models, or are they sufficient for my requirements?(mostly target shooting and plinking, some hunting for pest control when it is needed)
    Does anybody have an opinion as to which of these models are superior, or would you reccomend a different model entirely? I have only had limited experience with air rifles up to now, and have been very surprised by some of the claims of penetration made about these rifles, i assume that the models i have used before must have had a lower rating in ft.lbs as i find it hard to imagine them penetrating metal or 20mm pine at 30 yards. Do 12 ft.lb rifles really have this amount of power?

    The 12ft/lb issue is a bit tricky. the '97K does 11.8 with accupells, but it all depends on the ammo. The most powerful are webley venom lazapells, but they are'nt as accurate as accupells in my opinion. The problem is that if a gun generates 12ft/lbs with one brand of pellet, all it takes is for someone to load heavier pellets in and you got yerself an illegal class 1 firearm. Mind you, the way things are goin at the moment, I expect peashooters will be illegal, as they can be "illegally converted". An interesting note on the TAC subject: Any gun that has been converted to fire prober livefire rounds, as oppose to TACs, is liable to blow up.
