Handles and shoots like the Shadow 1000, but at 750 fps in .22. It delivers about one ft.lb. more energy than the .177 model. Accuracy is comparable, about .25 inch groups at 20 yards. Takes small game better than the .177 version.
Gets to feel heavy when taking multiple shot and carrying it around.
Also, it had dieseling problems for the first 100 shots, even after scrubbing the barrel with a dry film cleaner (I think extra grease in the compression chamber was the cause).
I exchanged my Shadow 1000 for this Shadow Supreme .22 in order ro take care of varmints. It causes more damage and kills more quickly (more humanely), and shot placement is not as essential as in the .177.
The effective range is actually as good as the .177 with good pellets (JSB Exacts) I guess due to the heavier pellet weight, and it also seems to have tighter groups at 50 yards than the .177, I think because the wind doesn't affect the .22s as much.
All in all, although the Gamo Shadow 1000 is a great rifle, I am glad I traded it for the .22.
Some Chinese rifles will shoot the same or a bit faster, but after reading about the poor craftsmanship and materials on the Chinese rifles, I am glad I spent a little more to get much better quality.
