General Comments

Our 1998 V-Class has proved that the mighty Mercedes Benz has lost it's prestige and association with quality, making way for vehicles that would make the old Skoda Marque blush. These vehicles are poorly engineered, poorly built with sub standard parts. Paint peels off interior panels, auto gearbox fails, radiator leaks, tyres wear quickly and unevenly, electronics are forever blowing fuses, and the fuse for one ancillary often affects another. I worked for eight years in quality for a large Japanese car manufacturer and thought i had seen every cost cutting and labour saving idea, but Mercedes have it wrapped up, in a tin box, full of second class materials, badly put together by cheap foreign labour. I would never buy any Merc again if this vehicle is taken as a reflection of what has happened to a once magnificent brand - sad.
