Light (Very light!)
Packed with features
Easy to pick up and use
Large amount of accessories - lenses, flashes etc...
Battery life can be a bit short (costs me £10 to replace them)
Pulsing flash when focusing at night can irritate subjects!
I bought the Canon EOS300 35mm SLR camera with the 28-90mm lens from a family friend for only £60!! They had only shot a dozen or so rolls of film through it, so it was practically brand new.
My previous camera was a Praktica MTL5-B, from which I had about 15 years service. It is now leaking light slightly.
The EOS 300 is a great camera. The amount of features it packs in is impressive. Those that are unfamiliar with photography can easily take good snaps with this when in full auto mode. Indeed, my fiance who has only ever taken photos on disposable cameras has produced some stunning shots with it.
The creative modes enable you to concentrate on composing a good shot without worrying about if the exposure is correct, or if the flash is needed.
In all, this is a great camera for those venturing into the realms of automatic SLR's. I plan to upgrade in a few years when digital SLR's come down in price a bit!!
